Praveen Swami is Associate Editor Frontline magazine, and also writes for its sister publication, The Hindu. Mr. Swami writes on issues of security and low-intensity warfare, particularly the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir and Islamist terror groups.
He has won several major awards for his work, including the Indian Express-Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism prize, 2006, the Prem Bhatia Award for Political Journalism, 2003, and the Sanskriti Samman, 1999.
Mr. Swami's is the author of two books on the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir: India, Pakistan and the Secret Jihad: the Covert War in Jammu and Kashmir, 1947-2002 (2007), and The Kargil War (2007). He was a Senior Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., in 2004-2005.
